Latar Belakang: Dalam mengatasi masalah epidemik rokok tembakau, WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Controll (WHO-FCTC) menggunakan metode Nicotine Replacement Theraphy dimana salah satu metode tersebut adalah rokok elektrik. Rokok elektrik menjadi semakin popular di tengah masyarakat Indonesia namun produk ini tidak memberikan informasi secara detail tentang keamanan dan kandungan dalam rokok elektrik.
Tujuan: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui faktor-faktor yang dapat melatarbelakangi penggunaan rokok elektrik di Kota Cirebon.
Metode: Penelitian deskriptif kualitatif menggunakan data survei berupa kuisioner yang dilakukan di komunitas perokok elektrik di Kota Cirebon pada bulan Juni 2022. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan consecutive sampling dan didapatkan responden sebesar 98 orang. Analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis univariat.
Hasil: Dilihat dari faktor keluarga mayoritas responden memiliki keadaan ekonomi yang tinggi (60,2%). Kemudian dari faktor lingkungan sosial mayoritas responden menggunakan rokok elektrik karena mengikuti teman (69,4%), sedangkan dari faktor psikologis mayoritas responden menggunakan rokok elektrik karena merasa lebih tenang dan bahagia (69,4%). Sebagian besar responden juga mengaku menggunakan rokok elektrik untuk mengatasi adiksi rokok konvensional (70,4%). Pada faktor gaya hidup terlihat hanya sedikit responden yang menggunakan rokok elektrik karena ingin mengikuti tren (31,6%) dan meningkatkan status sosial. (14,3%).
Kesimpulan: Faktor-faktor yang melatarbelakangi penggunaan rokok elektrik di Kota Cirebon dilihat dari faktor keluarga terbanyak adalah keadaan ekonomi yang tinggi, faktor gaya hidup terbanyak adalah mengikuti tren, faktor lingkungan terbanyak adalah mengikuti teman, dan faktor psikologis terbanyak adalah untuk mengatasi adiksi rokok konvensional.

Background: In overcoming the problem of the tobacco cigarette epidemic, the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (WHO-FCTC) used the Nicotine Replacement Therapy method, where one of these methods is electric cigarettes. e-cigarettes are becoming increasingly popular in Indonesian society, but these products do not provide detailed information about the safety and content of e-cigarettes.
Objective: The aim of this study was to discover the factors behind the use of e-cigarettes in Cirebon City.
Methods: This study used a description of qualitative research using survey data, namely questionnaires conducted in electric smoker community in Cirebon City in June 2022. The sampling technique used consecutive sampling and the number of respondents was 98 people. Analysis of the data used was univariate analysis.
Results: Judging from family factors, the majority of respondents have high economic conditions (60,2%). Then from social and environmental factors. The majority of respondents use e-cigarettes because they follow some friends (69,4%), while because of psychological factors, the majority of respondents use e-cigarettes because they feel calmer and happier (69,4%). Most of the respondents also admitted to using e-cigarettes to overcome addiction to conventional cigarettes (70,4%). On lifestyle factors, it was seen that only a few respondents use e-cigarettes because they want to follow trends (31,6%) and improve their social status (14,3%).
Conclusion: The factors behind the use of e-cigarettes in Cirebon city can be seen from high economic conditions, the most lifestyle factors are following trends, the most environmental factors are following friends, and the most psychological factors are for overcoming conventional cigarette addictions.
