Latar Belakang: Akne adalah penyakit peradangan kronis pada folikel pilosebasea, ditandai dengan adanya lesi polimorfik berupa komedo, papul, pustul, nodus, dan kista di tempat predileksi. Di Indonesia akne vulgaris menempati urutan ketiga penyakit tebanyak dari jumlah pengunjung Departemen Ilmu Kesehatan Kulit dan Kelamin di rumah sakit maupun klinik kulit. Dimana pada wanita berkisar 83-85% dan pada pria yaitu pada umur 16-19 tahun berkisar 95-100%.
Tujuan: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara pola makan dan jenis kelamin dengan kejadian akne vulgaris pada mahasiswa semester 5 di Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Swadaya Gunung Jati.
Metode: Penelitian ini bersifat observasional analitik, termasuk penelitian dengan rancangan cross sectional. Sampel adalah mahasiswa sebanyak 70 orang. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan simple random sampling.
Hasil: Hasil uji chi-square diperoleh bahwa ada hubungan dari pola makan yang sering mengkonsumsi fast food dengan kejadian Akne Vulgaris (p<0.037). Dan ada hubungan dari jenis kelamin dengan kejadian Akne Vulgaris (p<0,026).
Simpulan: Terdapat hubungan antara pola makan fast food dan jenis kelamin dengan kejadian akne vulgaris pada mahasiswa semester 5 di Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Swadaya Gunung Jati. Tidak ada hubungan antara pola makan karbohidrat, protein nabati, protein hewani, sayuran, buah-buahan, olahan susu dengan kejadian Akne Vulgaris pada mahasiswa semester 5 di Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Swadaya Gunung Jati.

Background: Acne is a chronic inflammatory disease of pilosebaceous follicles, characterized by the presence of polymorphic lesions in the form of comedones, papules, pustules, nodes, and cysts at predilection sites. In Indonesia, acne vulgaris ranks as the third most common disease from the number of visitors to the Department of Dermatology and Venereology in hospitals and skin clinics. Where in women it ranges from 83-85% and in men at the age of 16-19 years it ranges from 95-100%.
Objective: This study aims to determine the relationship between diet and gender with the incidence of acne vulgaris in 5th semester students at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Swadaya Gunung Jati.
Methods: This research is analytic observational, including research with a cross sectional design. The sample is 70 students. The sampling technique used is simple random sampling.
Results: The results of the chi-square test showed that there was a relationship between eating patterns that often consumed fast food and the incidence of acne vulgaris (p<0.037). And there is a relationship of gender with the incidence of acne vulgaris (p<0.026).
Conclusion: There is a relationship between fast food eating patterns and gender with the incidence of acne vulgaris in 5th semester students at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Swadaya Gunung Jati. There is no relationship between eating patterns of carbohydrates, vegetable protein, animal protein, vegetables, fruits, dairy products and the incidence of acne vulgaris in 5th semester students at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Swadaya Gunung Jati.
