Abstract

Latar Belakang: Penyakit infeksi merupakan jenis penyakit yang paling banyak diderita oleh penduduk Indonesia. Salah satu penyebab penyakit infeksi yaitu bakteri Escherichia coli. Alternatif untuk mengatasinya adalah memanfaatkan bahan-bahan alam. Salah satu bentuk rempah yang dapat digunakan adalah temulawak (Curcuma xanthorrhiza Roxb.) karena mempunyai aktivitas sebagai antibakteri. Beberapa penelitian menyatakan bahwa temulawak memiliki kandungan antibiotik dan antifungal alami.
Tujuan: Membuktikan efek daya hambat Fraksi N-Heksan, Butanol, Etil-asetat temulawak (Curcuma xanthorrhiza Roxb.) terhadap pertumbuhan Escherichia coli Secara in vitro.
Metode: Penelitian yang dilakukan bersifat eksperimental dengan rancangan penelitian post test control group design. Penelitian ini menggunakan 8 kelompok yaitu 2 kelompok kontrol dan 6 kelompok perlakuan.
Hasil: Pada fraksi etil-asetat, dan butanol temulawak (Curcuma xanthorrhiza Roxb.) menunjukan hasil daya hambat lemah. Sedangkan fraksi N-heksan memiliki daya hambat yang kuat terhadap pertumbuhan Escherichia coli secara in vitro.
Simpulan: Fraksi N-heksan, butanol, dan etil-asetat temulawak (Curcuma xanthorrhiza Roxb.) memiliki perbedaan daya hambat yang signifikan (p=0,000 < p=0,01) terhadap pertumbuhan Escherichia coli secara in vitro. Namun, fraksi N-heksan memiliki daya hambat kuat terhadap pertumbuhan Escherichia coli secara in vitro.

Background: The population in Indonesia is the most frequently afflicted by infectious diseases. Escherichia coli is a one of the cause of several infectious illnesses. The use of natural materials is an alternative solution to this problem. Temulawak (Curcuma xanthorrhiza Roxb.), an antibacterial spice, is one of the type that can be employed. Temulawak (Curcuma xanthorrhiza Roxb.) contains organic antifungals and antibiotics, according to previwes research.
Objective: To prove the inhibitory effect of N-Hexane, Butanol, Ethyl-acetate fraction temulawak (Curcuma xanthorrhiza Roxb.) on the growth of Escherichia coli in vitro.
Methods: The study was an experimental study with post test control group design research method. This study used 8 groups, namely 2 control groups and 6 treatment groups.
Results: The ethylacetate and butanol fractions of temulawak (Curcuma xanthorrhiza Roxb.) showed weak inhibitory results. Meanwhile, the N-hexane fraction has an strong inhibitory effect on the growth of escherichia coli in vitro.
Conclusion: The N-hexane, butanol, and ethyl-acetate fractions of temulawak (Curcuma xanthorrhiza Roxb.) had significant differences in inhibition (p=0,000 < p=0.01) on the growth of Escherichia coli in vitro. However, the N-hexane fraction has a strong inhibitory effect on the growth of Escherichia coli in vitro.
