Abstract

Latar belakang: Escherichia coli merupakan bakteri Gram negatif yang sering menyebabkan diare dan infeksi saluran kemih (ISK), di Indonesia angka morbiditas dan mortalitas akibat diare masih tinggi, pengobatan dengan menggunakan antibiotik yang tidak terkontrol dapat mendorong terjadinya perkembangan resistensi bakteri sehingga dibutuhkan alternatif pengobatan untuk menghindarinya. Lidah buaya merupakan salah satu tanaman yang dipercaya mempunyai efek antimikroba.
Tujuan: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas antimikroba sari lidah buaya (Aloe vera) terhadap bakteri Escherichia coli.
Metode: Penelitian eksperimental dengan post test only control group design. Jumlah sampel 24 cawan petri dibagi ke dalam 6 kelompok perlakuan yaitu kelompok kontrol, kelompok perlakuan 1 diberi sari lidah buaya konsentrasi 5%, kelompok perlakuan 2 konsentrasi 10%, kelompok perlakuan 3 konsentrasi 25%, kelompok perlakuan 4 konsentrasi 50%, kelompok perlakuan 5 konsentrasi 75%. Penanaman bakteri menggunakan metode pour plate. Diinkubasi selama 24 jam pada suhu 37o C. Uji statistik menggunakan uji Anova dan Post hoc.
Hasil: Rerata jumlah koloni Escherichia coli kelompok kontrol sebanyak 85.7±10.81, kelompok perlakuan 1 sebesar 60.5±7.19, kelompok perlakuan 2 sebesar 46.7±6.85, kelompok perlakuan 3 sebesar 27.7±4.03, kelompok perlakuan 4 sebesar 9.0±3,65 dan kelompok perlakuan 5 sebesar 1.0±1.41. Uji Anova diperoleh nilai P<0,05. Uji post hoc menunjukkan perbedaan bermakna pada kelompok kontrol, kelompok perlakuan 1, 2, 3 dan 4 (P<0.05), tetapi pada kelompok perlakuan 4 dan 5 tidak didapatkan perbedaan bermakna (P>0,05).
Kesimpulan: Sari buaya (Aloe vera) mempunyai efek antimikroba terhadap bakteri Escherichia coli.

Background: Escherichia coli is Gram negative bacterial which caused diarrhea and ureter infection. In Indonesia numbers of morbidity and mortality of diarrhea is quite high. Medicinal that using uncontrol antibiotic can caused bacteria resistant. That’s why people need alternative medical to avoid it. Aloe vera is one of plant that believe has antimicrobial effect.
Objective: The purpose of this research to find out antimicrobial Aloe vera juice effectiveness to Escherichia coli.
Method: Experimental research with post test only control group design. Total 24 samples petri dish that divided into 6 treatment group there was control group, treatment group 1 that given Aloe vera juice 5% concentration, treatment group 2 10% concentration, treatment group 3 25% concentration, treatment group 4 50% concentration, treatment group 5 75% concentration. Bacteria planting used pour plate method. Trough in incubation for 24 hours on 37 o degree. Statistic test used Anova test and Post hoc.
Result: Average amount of Escherichia coli colony in control group was total 85.7±10.81, in treatment group 1 was total 60.5±7.19, in treatment group 2 was total 46.7±6.85, in treatment group 3 was total 27.7±4.03, in treatment group 4 was total 9.0±3,65, in treatment group 5 was total 1.0±1.41. Result of the test can be found P<0,05. Result of the post hoc test show that significant differences between treatment group and control group 1,2,3 and 4 (P<0,05), but in 4 and 5 treatment group there was no significant differences (P>0,05).
Conclusion: Aloe vera juice has antimicrobial effect to Escherichia coli.
