Abstract
tuberkulosis.
Background: Indonesia is a country with tuberculosis or TB sufferers and the third
most common cause of TB in the world. The highest number of cases was in West
Java province, especially in Cirebon Regency in March 2021, which was 3,385
cases. TB elimination is also one of the 3 main focuses of the government in the
health sector with a target of decreasing incidence by 80% and mortality
decreasing by 90%. The high number of cases is caused by various factors, one of
which is the lack of knowledge, attitudes and behavior regarding TB. In accordance
with the results of researcher interviews with all students of the teaching and
education study program at Gunung Jati Swadaya University or FKIP UGJ, that
many of the students do not know about TB from the causes, transmission, symptoms
to behaviors that are risk factors for tuberculosis. Objective: To determine the
relationship between knowledge about TB and TB prevention behavior in students.
Methods: Observational study using a cross sectional design with Spearman test to
analyze the correlation between knowledge and TB prevention behavior. The
sample of this research is the students of class 2019 FKIP UGJ Cirebon. Results:
Analysis of the relationship found that p value <0.05 stated that the relationship
between knowledge about TB and TB prevention behavior in students was positive.
Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between knowledge about
tuberculosis with tuberculosis prevention behavior in students.
Keywords: knowledge of tuberculosis, tuberculosis prevention behavior
