Abstract
In learning English which discusses descriptive texts in the independent curriculum, there is a need for teaching materials that can be used as learning resources by teacher and students. Using printed books as handbooks for learning resources by students and teacher is considered not optimal. Moreover, in the descriptive text material in printed books, there are still several deficiencies both in terms of material and learning evaluation. Therefore, it is necessary to utilize other learning resources such as learning modules that specifically discuss descriptive text material in the form of electronic modules (e-modules). The problem formulation in this research is How is the design of teaching material about descriptive text for grade VII students in the form of e-module? How is the implementation of teaching material about descriptive text for grade VII students in the form of e-module? The aim of this research is to design descriptive text teaching materials for class VII junior high school students in the form of e-module and to describe the results of implementing descriptive text teaching materials for class VII junior high school students in the form of e-module. In the process of designing teaching materials, the author follows the Dick, Carey and Carey Model research concept which requires validation and testing or implementation. This research involved 2 experts from English Education Department and took an English teacher at a junior high school in Cirebon and 10 class VII junior high school students as research subjects. This research refers to the analytical descriptive research method which aims to describe and analyze the results of implementing descriptive text teaching materials for class VII junior high school students in the form of e-module. Based on the results of the implementation of descriptive text teaching materials for class VII junior high school students in the form of e-module in small groups of 10 class VII junior high school students, an average score for module feasibility was obtained, namely 72.25%. So it can be concluded that the emodule descriptive writing teaching materials for VII grade students are declared quite valid and suitable for use as learning materials with several revisions. Meanwhile, the results of the Class VII English teacher's assessment of the feasibility of the e-module received an average score of 91.25%. Thus, the e-module descriptive writing teaching materials for VII grade students are declared very valid and suitable for use as learning materials.
