Abstract

Reading motivation is important to involve students in reading activities and improve reading comprehension. However, no motivation affects reading comprehension the worst. Therefore, teachers must create motivation to read first. Reading for pleasure or Extensive Reading also improves reading comprehension skills (Boakye, 2017). This study was to find out how are student’s motivation in extensive reading. This study focused on internal and external factors of motivation that students feel during extensive reading activity. The data was collected by conducting semi-structured interviews. The finding of this study was found that in internal factors students can be motivated by curiosity factors, and having goals. Meanwhile, in the external factors, the researcher found students can be motivated in factors teacher influence, and also peer influence.
