Abstract
This research is entitled "Enacting A Film-Based Teaching In Junior High School English Class". This research attempts to examine how perceived values from “The Present” movie contribute to students‟ character development. Although prior studies have engaged film-based teaching in EFL Class, a little work on using film-mediated to promote character is rarely been reported. This was a qualitative research with study case method design. The participants in this research were a class of a junior high school in Cirebon. The total sample of participants consisted of 32 students. The number of male participants is 17 students and 15 of female students expressed their willingness to participate in this research project. In general, participants can speak two languages those are Indonesian, local or mother tongue, and know English as in middle school level. Participants are in the age range of 14-16 years old, and most of them are from Cirebon regions. Whereas the participants are from one class, the amount of 32 students are pretty much affects diverse perspectives, perceptions, and beliefs to influence the participants‟ views on the concept of character issue. Data were garnered from open-ended questionnaire and interview. Furthermore, it is hoped this study will positively engage students‟ character development in the long term and inspires film-mediated learning in EFL Class with more.
