Abstract

The objectives of the research entitled “The Challenges of Teaching English For
Young Learners : A Case Study of Teachers Elementary School‟ were to analyze
kinds and factors of students‟ difficulties in learning vocabulary. This study
employed a qualitative research design, implementing characteristics of a case
study. For gaining the data, the researcher used questionnaire. The findings from
the data analysis indicate several challenges faced by educators in the context of
teaching vocabulary. Among the key challenges identified are teachers' limited
knowledge of vocabulary and teaching techniques, exacerbated by a lack of
professional development opportunities tailored to English language teaching.
Additionally, teachers are in need of enhanced workshops focused on effectively
utilizing specialized resources for vocabulary instruction. Another significant
obstacle is the shortage of appropriate teaching materials and facilities for
teaching vocabulary, which can impact the overall quality of instruction.
Furthermore, negative attitudes exhibited by students towards English teachers
during lessons and their subsequent lack of concentration pose considerable
challenges in creating an effective learning environment. Students' poor
memorization ability and lack of learning motivation further contribute to the
complexity of teaching vocabulary. Additionally, students' limited understanding
of word meanings and their hesitation to ask for help when facing difficulties
hinder the comprehension and progress of language learning. Lastly, the lack of
awareness by parents and the community regarding student development can
impede holistic growth and educational advancement.
