Abstract

Listening is one of the English skills that is very important to master because the
key to learning and communicating in English is to have good listening skills. One
of the learning media that is usually used in listening is song. Although song has
often been used as a learning medium by teachers, we do not know directly what
students feel after using song as a medium to practice listening skills. Therefore,
in this study researchers want to know how the perspective of students after
experiencing themselves using song as a means of practicing listening, what
abilities increase after listening to song. Based on this background, the
formulation of the problem in this study is: How are student's perspective on the
use of English song for listening comprehension?. The purpose of this study is to
find out how are student's perspective on the use of English song for listening
comprehension. This research uses qualitative methods with case studies and the
results are presented descriptively. Data were collected using questionnaires and
interviews. In the end, research shows that from the perspective of students
listening to song can increase vocabulary, practice pronunciation, practice
listening skills, and make students more enthusiastic in learning English because
their penchant for listening to English song makes their enthusiasm for learning
increase.
