Abstract
Social media is a platform that often uses in the education field lately and
especially to Pre-service teachers that usually use as teaching and communication
tools. And in this research, social media refers to Twitter. Twitter as a teaching
medium for writing is a research topic that aims to determine pre-service teachers'
perspectives by using Twitter as a learning media for English writing skills and to
investigate and understand how pre-service English teachers use Twitter as a media
within the context of a writing class. Pre-service teachers are defined as those who
take the Education major they have taught. This research was conducted with a
qualitative method, and the data were analyzed with a descriptive qualitative
approach. The participants in this research consist of three who majored in English
education, were pre–service teachers, and have used Twitter as teaching media in
the class. This research results show that using Twitter as a teaching medium has
benefits. Twitter could be effective media in enhancing students' writing skills and
broadening students' understanding of the English language in a broader context.
