Abstract

Intercultural communicative competence is built on knowledge of a foreign language and the ability to use forms to convey meaning in certain contexts, because language and culture are interrelated. Understanding intercultural communicative competence and the components of abilities that are most useful for language learners are the goals of this research. The method used is a research review study which examines using reliable data sources for the previous five years, 2019–2023. Researchers used various sources to select journals to serve as primary data by collecting research data by searching published journals. There are three ways to access review studies: analyzing data obtained from online platform journals, entering data into tables, and discussing the findings. The results of the review study found nine journals used as data. It has been analyzed to have seven similarities in the importance of intercultural communicative skills, this expands awareness of language and cultural differences. In the skills aspect using theory, Darla Deardoff found three aspects of skills: awareness, understanding and appreciation. Researchers found seven awareness skills, three comprehension skills and two appreciation skills from nine journals. The author wants to inspire language learners to be able to research more thoroughly so that it can be improved.
